New: Please bring bill of sale and Maine registration numbers (if already on boat and
previously registered in Maine by prior owner). State sales tax on purchase price will be collected
on private sale. Dealerships collect sales tax at time of purchase and provide you with a Dealer's
Certificate. You will need to bring this at the time of registration.
Renewals: Excise is computed on boat's age, length, engine horsepower and use. The Inland
Fisheries fees are now also based on the horsepower of the motor. ALL BOAT REGISTRATIONS EXPIRE
ON DEC. 31.
New:
Renewals: Renewals can be done at the Town Office if you bring in last year's registrations.
You have a choice to register for either 1 or 2 years.
New: Please bring your dog's current Maine rabies certificate. (The certificate must be less
than two years old.) No out-of-state rabies certificates, please. You will also need to bring dog's
spay or neutering certificate. The license is $6.00 for spayed/neutered or $10.00 for
non-neutered/spayed dogs.
Renewals: Renewals are due in December of each year. Renewals after February 1 have a
state-mandated $10.00 penalty assessed for late payment with completion of Warrant.
Selectmen's Meetings: Selectmen's meetings are generally held the second and fourth Tuesdays
of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the Town Office.
Serving on Boards or Committees: We invite you to serve on one of the Town's boards or committees.
Office hours are for Waldoboro citizens only, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Town Office at 1600 Atlantic Highway. Appointments may be scheduled by calling 832-5369. In an emergency, applicants may contact the Town Manager at 832-5369.
Residents must meet all these requirements to be eligible to purchase a resident hunting or fishing
license: Must be domiciled in Maine continuously for three months prior to applying for the license;
must be in compliance with Maine Income Tax Laws; if licensed to drive, must have made application
for or possess a Maine Drivers license; all motor vehicles owned by applicant and located in Maine
must be registered in Maine; and if registered to vote, applicant must be registered to vote in a
Maine town. Applicant must comply all the rules mandated by the Department of Inland Fisheries and
Wildlife.
New and renewals: Must bring evidence of a previous hunting (or archery) license or proof
of completion of the Maine Hunter Safety Course.
Maine residents: An application must be completed and filed. A certified copy of a divorce
decree or a death certificate is needed for those who have been previously married. BOTH parties
must sign the actual license in the Town Clerk's presence before it can be issued. Maine residents
must file in the town in which they live.
Non-Maine residents: An application must be completed and filed. A certified copy of a
divorce decree or a death certificate is needed for those who have been previously married. BOTH
parties must sign the actual license in the Town Clerk's presence before it can be issued.
Real Estate and Personal Property: Taxes can be paid in full upon receipt of bill or in two
installments; the first payment is due by November 15 and the second payment is due by May 15.
Interest is charged on the unpaid balance after those dates. Please include your bill or your
account number with your payment to assure proper credit to your account.
Credit card payments can be made only through Official Payments Corp: To contact them call
1-800-272-9829 or visit their web site at www.officialpayments.com. You will need the Town's
jurisdiction code to make a payment. The code for Waldoboro is 2909. We welcome partial payments
on all accounts.
Autos and Trucks: Payment of an excise tax is required on all vehicles in the town of
residence BEFORE registration. In order to re-register your vehicle, we need the previous
registration, proof of insurance and current mileage.
New Registrations: We can also process new registrations. This applies if the vehicle has
been purchased from a Maine licensed dealer. Please bring the following:

New or Current Residents: New or current Waldoboro residents can register to vote any time, including election days, in the Town Office. Proof of residency is required at the time of registration.

Transfer Station Permits: Permits are required to use the Transfer Station. Stickers can
be obtained at the Transfer Station by residents of Waldoboro, Cushing and Friendship by showing
your Maine car/truck registration. Property owners may also obtain temporary permits at the town
office. Permits must be displayed on the lower front driver's side of vehicle windshield where it
will be visible to the Transfer Station attendants. If you sell or trade your vehicle please remove
the sticker. This will prevent use by non-residents, thereby saving your tax dollars.

Certified copies of birth, death and marriage certificates are available from the Town Clerk.
Each is $7.00 for the first copy and $3.00 for each additional copy.
