It would appear that the "Firework Question" which was on Tuesday's ballot has ignited debate on both sides and sparked some interesting questions as to when this change takes effect. In consultation with the legal department at the Maine Municipal Association we have determined that the vote on Tuesday nullified and voided our existing ordinance. We are currently operating under the State Law governing the use of fireworks, please follow this link to see the regulations: https://www.maine.gov/…/fireworks/documents/generalguidefir…

The next step will be to draft a ordinance based on Tuesday's vote.

There are a few facts that should be known. First and foremost this was a citizen initiated petition not initiated by the Select Board. The petition was circulated and received the proper number of signatures to be placed on the ballot. It was placed on the next available ballot as a matter of practice, not by a grand design to influence the vote either way.
