Town of Waldoboro
Recreation Department Policies
- The Waldoboro Recreation Department will accept registrations on a first come-first serve basis.
A completed registration form and pre-payment is required for all programs.
- Each program has a specific registration policy that participants must adhere to.
- Priority will be given to Waldoboro residents for programs with limited space.
- If a participant wishes to register for a program after a designated registration deadline,
the program director will determine if and how to place that participant.
- Participation in a program in not guaranteed until entire registration fee has been received.
- If a registration fee has not been paid in full by the designated deadline, we reserve the
right to offer that spot to the wait list.
Most all team sports programs require a great deal of preparation prior to the beginning of each
sports season. Signing up on time allows us to develop the correct amount of teams, obtain adequate
uniforms, identify coaches, create schedules and assess athletes for appropriate placement. Late
sign-ups jeopardize the quality of service that we aim to provide. Therefore, late registrations are
subject to the following:
- Payment of a $10.00 late fee.
- Since teams and rosters are assigned at the close of registration, anyone signing up late will be
placed on a waiting list if there is no open spot.
- If a spot opens up during the season, the applicant will be placed. The registration fee will not be pro-rated.
- If room is not available, the registration fee will be refunded in full.
If any program is postponed or cancelled due to inclement weather or other reasons, participants can
call the office at 832-5369 or listen to Real Country 103.3fm (WMCM) for cancellation information.
- If we cancel a program, class or special event, we will refund 100% of registration fee.
- If you withdraw at least 24 hours prior to the start of a workshop, clinic, or sports program,
you will be charged a $5.00 processing fee and be refunded the remaining balance.
- If you withdraw less than 24 hours prior to the start of or after attending the first session/practice
of a seasonal program, you will be refunded 50% of the registration fee.
- Please allow 2-3 weeks for the processing of refunds.
- Parents/guardians are responsible for making arrangements to drop-off and pick-up their own children in a timely manner.
- Participants under the age of 18 are not allowed to be transported by program staff or volunteers, such as coaches or directors.
- Coaches will pick teams at a designated time prior to the sport season. (Some sports require assessment of athletes,
which will continue to take place prior to picking teams.)
- Parents that are coaching have the choice of coaching their own children.
- The participants will be chosen through a selection process.
- Special requests for participant's placement on a team will not be guaranteed.
- Participants will not be allowed to switch teams during the season unless approved by the Recreation Department staff.
A participant may be placed on a higher division based on skill assessment, approval from the coaches and recreation staff. Program
needs such as number of participants needed to play, may require moving participants to a higher or lower division.
- We expect that anyone involved in a Waldoboro Recreation Program will conduct themselves with courtesy and respect.
- Coaches, participants and parents should work together to provide the best possible experience and communicate any concerns.
- Coaches should be approached before or after a practice or game, not during.
- Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated during any of our programs.
- If it is determined that a player or coach has been disruptive they may be removed from practice or a game. Serious
infractions may lead to removal from the program. The Recreation staff will make that decision.
- If it is determined that a parent has been disruptive or violates the parents code of conduct, they will be asked
to leave the practice or game immediately.
