The Shellfish Conservation Committee establishes shellfish digging licenses, shellfish survey and management plans, and recommends conservation closures. Our Shellfish committee is always hard at work protecting the health and sustainability of the Medomak River for our clamming community and everyone else who uses the Medomak as a source of income and recreation! The Shellfish Committee's work is funded soley through licensing fees through the sales of clamming licenses and conservation fees. The Committee also takes advantage of many grant programs to fund their research and projects.
In the spring of 2020 the Shellfish Committee began working on the upweller project, a project that may help naturally seed sections of the river with clam seed to ensure the sustainability of the Medomak Clam.
