The Town of Waldoboro proudly provides many services to it's residents including a full-time Police Department, a 24 hour Ambulance Service, a volunteer Fire Department, a Recreation Department, General Assistance, a solid waste Transfer Station, a Town Clerk, and many more.
Waldoboro was incorporated in 1773. Waldoboro is situated in mid-coast Maine, 15 miles southwest of Rockland, 66 miles northeast of Portland and 28 miles south of Augusta and has a population of 4,916. The Town consists of 73 square miles of area, making it one of the largest towns in the region, including many miles of coastline, acres of forest and abundant open fields.
Waldoboro operates under a Selectmen/Town Meeting/Town Manager form of government. The Board of Selectmen is the municipality's executive branch as well as the agent of the municipality's legislative branch, the Town Meeting. The five Selectmen are elected at large for three-year staggered terms. The Town Manager is responsible for providing general management and administrative oversight of all operations, programs and services.
